Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® Classes and Workshops

Attend In-Person at the Breath & Oneness Studio in Capitola, or from the Comfort of Your Home on Zoom

What is Awareness Through Movement?

Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement group lessons offer a transformative way to improve body awareness, flexibility, and effortless movement. In these classes, you sit or lie on a padded mat as the instructor guides you through gentle movement sequences. Rather than imitating or forcing your body, you’re encouraged to explore the movements in a way that feels safe and comfortable for your unique structure and abilities.

These lessons tap into the power of neuroplasticity, helping you rewire your brain, release unnecessary tension and strain, and form better, more efficient movement habits. Rather than focusing on stretching or strengthening isolated muscles, the goal is to improve coordination and ease by reducing effort, a core principle in Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lessons.

After each session, students notice immediate improvements in posture, ease of movement, and a sense of grace that naturally extends into their daily activities. Athletic pursuits, dance, yoga, and creative endeavors often become more effortless, fluid, and refined. Some use these lessons to relieve pain or heal injuries, while others practice Awareness Through Movement lessons to improve specific skills, posture, or agility as they age. It also serves as a mindfulness and meditation practice for deeper self-awareness.
